Watch Your Health

Cancer patients nowadays are getting younger and younger. I remember one time, my nurse roommate told me that the youngest cancer patient their hospital had is 20+ years of age. Proof that some of us are not health conscious and tend to forget what might be the effect of  ignorance.

When I was browsing a net looking for something, I bumped into the word mesothelioma, my brows raised as I really did not know this term. Is it a flower’s scientific name? a place? a tree? an animal? None of the choices. Than I found out that it is a rare type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos – and what is asbestos then? It is a silicate material that was popular in building construction because of its cheap price and strong ability to insulate. Let us go back to mesothelioma, it occurs in the lining of the body’s internal organs, within the thin layers of cell surrounding each organ. This type of cancer develops into three – the Pleural which refers to mesothelioma in the lungs, Peritoneal and Pericardium.

Beware of the consistent cough or chest pains especially when you are exposed to asbestos, you might be having, unfortunately, a mesothelioma.

And it’s not only foods are to watch, we should also be aware of the things around us. If we know these things will cause us some disease, try to shun them as much as possible. So watch your health.

Till then,
