I am on my mid-30’s, and saving for my and family’s future is one thing I have in mind. Save, save save and more importantly – invest, invest invest!
There are lots of investment portfolio we can vent into – stocks, bonds, mutual fund. How about insurance? Hmmm – no idea yet. Invest in networking wherein when you join and be a member then you’d recruit your downline and buy products then you will instantly earn thousands in a week! I am not for that – ekis the networking on my list, I cannot do it and I am not good at it. I tried it once, I was a member of USANA, I think it was last 2010 wherein I invested Php16K. But I wasn’t that good in recruiting and no enough money to buy products, therefore, I did not gain from it. 😉
Salary plays an important role in investing. Especially if a person is a bread-winner. I didn’t have any savings when I was just starting to work, can’t save for long time- for 10 years I think. My salary was enough for my family’s allowances and my own expenses 🙁 I was receiving just enough salary, a salary for a Senior Accountant.
And now that I can say I am into a position that I enjoy – let us say earning way double when I was a Senior Accountant, I can now save somehow. Somehow because my husband has no job as of now and all the expenses are shouldered by the salary I am receiving. I want to do this formula, SAVINGS = SALARY – EXPENSES, I am doing it? yes, but setting aside a meager percentage only of my salary, pero okay na din than nothing right?
Now…. I am torn between buying additional stocks or investing in mutual funds. There’s difference, making me confused where to invest.
What is stock?
Stock is an equity investment. What does that mean for you? Proud ownership of a company you believe is a good investment. So if you invest in a stock, you have an ownership stake in the corporation that issued it, or offered it for sale. The size of that stake depends on the number of shares you own compared to the total number available.
What is a mutual fund?
A mutual fund is an investment vehicle made up of a pool of funds collected from many investors for the purpose of investing in securities such as stocks, bonds, money market instruments and similar assets. Mutual funds are operated by money managers, who invest the fund’s capital and attempt to produce capital gains and income for the fund’s investors. A mutual fund’s portfolio is structured and maintained to match the investment objectives stated in its prospectus.
I already invest in stocks – and this means that I am now a stockholder of the companies I’ve invested stock into! Yey!
Now – just now, I invested in mutual fund. And I hope I did the right decision. And it’s for long-term. Oh, both of them are my long – term investment. 😉
So friends – am I right in deciding to buy a mutual funds instead of investing in additional stocks?
